The Playground

The dream of this gardener was to have her own garden as a playground, to have the freedom to grow beautiful and unusual plants o her liking and to make this garden into an outdoor extension of her home. After many failures, she began to realize that soil was the most important ingredient. Although some of the trees, plants and flowers in her garden are not indigenous to this area, her goal was to cultivate the soil and draw out its potential to grow beautiful things, and attract birds, butterflies, bees and other beneficial insects. This garden, built on memories along with unique gifts from friends and family and recycled materials has evolved into a spirit of collaboration with others who share her love of gardening. In the last 10 years, she and her husband have added fruit trees and raised vegetable beds. Some of the unusual plants include a Dombeya Wallichii (Tropical Hydrangea) originating form Africa, Japanese Maples, Flowering Quince, Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar, Staghorn Ferns, Golden Spirit Smoke Tree and Orchid Cacti. This playground brings her joy, peace and an opportunity to enjoy the fruits of her labor.
