Park Semper Fi

Park Semper Fi, overlooking the San Clemente pier and just above the parking lot, is one of the treasures to be found in our beautiful community. Dedicated to the service of all Marines and Sailors, it is a place of recognition, remembrance and reflection and is a permanent part of the heritage of San Clemente.

The San Clemente Garden Club is proud to have played a significant part in the history of Park Semper Fi from the very beginning. Club Members, Marines and Community Volunteers planted a native plant garden in 2005/2006 with funds from the San Clemente Garden Club and a National Garden Club Grant. This garden and the park attracts many different birds and butterflies and draws visitors from all over the United States.

The centerpiece at the park is the Marine Monument. A life-sized bronze statue of Marine Sergeant Rob Elliott in his Dress Blue Uniform is saluting his fallen comrades. The memorial park is named after the United States Marine Corp’s Latin motto which translates to, “Always Faithful”. The monument was sculpted in 2005 by Bill Limebrook and Lauren Saint Vincent.

Our club volunteers continue to support Park Semper Fi by meeting monthly to perform garden maintenance. The monthly maintenance includes fertilizing, weeding, deadheading and planting, as necessary. Additionally, the club volunteers prepare the garden for the many different events that are held at Park Semper Fi each year. Consider joining us on the second Wednesday of the month. We meet by the Pier Bowl at 8:30 AM. Volunteers are always needed and welcomed!
