Monthly Meetings / Programs
Regular monthly meetings combined with informative programs are held September through June on the First Wednesday of each month. Meetings begin at 1:00 P.M. and are held in the St. Andrew's By-the-Sea United Methodist Church, 2001 Calle Frontera, San Clemente. Meetings are free and open to visitors and prospective members. Following a short business meeting, informational and entertaining programs are presented. Past programs have included exotic orchids, succulents, flower arranging, water gardens and container gardening. Socializing, refreshments and sharing gardening challenges round out each meeting.

Field trips and Workshops
Field trips and workshops are held in various locations on third Wednesdays. These day-trips depart from the Community Center parking lot. Past tours include Quail Gardens in Encinitas, South Coast Botanical Garden in Rancho Palos Verdes, Nixon Library in Yorba Linda and the Blind Children's Center in Santa Ana.

Plant Sale
Garden Club holds two Plant Sales a year, one in April in conjunction with the Flower Show and one in October. Members donate, propagate and solicit from local nurseries a wonderful collection of healthy plants, decorative items for the garden, as well as home-baked goodies for the Plant Sales. Proceeds help support our scholarship fund and civic beautification projects.

Spring Flower Show / Garden Fest
The club sponsors either a Spring Flower Show or GardenFest. Both events are produced in partnership with the City of San Clemente Department of Beaches, Parks and Recreation and are free of charge for the community at large. These events are held in the San Clemente Community Center. The Flower Show follows the standards established by the National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC). It contains three divisions: horticulture, design and educational exhibits. Competition is open to members and non-members of the Garden Club at no cost. The GardenFest offers a variety of garden lectures, container and design competitions, flea market, children's activities and a plant sale.

Home Garden Tour
The club hosts an annual one-day self-guided tour of five outstanding local gardens. The community and members of the Garden Club are invited to visit these showplace gardens that offer diverse landscape design, plant materials and lots of good ideas to take home to their own garden. Proceeds from the tour benefit our scholarship project and civic beautification projects.

Civic Beautification
Since 1951, civic beautification has been a high priority with the San Clemente Garden Club. Acting as volunteers in support of the city's Beaches, Parks and Recreation Department, members contribute many hours of service tending city gardens and adding special projects to enhance the area. Major projects include: the City Hall Rose Garden, the Pier Garden, the Jo-Read Memorial Library Garden, the Blue Star Memorial, Casa Romantica Garden, and the Marine Monument Garden.

Garden Therapy
San Clemente Garden Club has had an active Garden Therapy program for many years as part of our community service activities. The Club presents innovative projects throughout the year for clients at the Adult Day Health Care Center. This hands-on activity is rewarding for both the Garden Club volunteers and the seniors at the center.

Jr. Gardening
San Clemente Garden Club looks to the future by promoting Jr. Gardening at the San Clemente Boys and Girls Club. Members spend rewarding hours working with the children on various projects that include horticulture, design, conservation and much more. The Jr. Gardeners participate in the Flower Show exhibiting their projects in the Educational Room.

Additional Social Events
Luncheons, Round Robin Bridge get-togethers and other social events are held throughout the year.
